NFL Flag Football

NFL Flag is the largest youth Flag Football League in the U.S. and GLVA offers the largest program in the Lehigh Valley area

Serving youth athletes across the country, NFL FLAG leagues are no contact, giving boys and girls of all abilities a chance to develop their fundamental football skills in a positive, inclusive environment.

General overview of the game:
  • 5 v 5
  • Games are played on a 40-minute continuous clock with two twenty-minute halves
  • Each time the ball is spotted, a team has 30 seconds to snap the ball
  • Each team has one 60-second time out per half
  • No blocking or “screening” is allowed at any time
  • Ball carriers MUST make an effort to avoid defenders with an established position
  • Defenders are not allowed to run through the ball carrier when pulling flags
  • All players are eligible to receive passes (including the quarterback, if the ball has been handed off behind the line of scrimmage)

CHEER

Cheerleading serves as an outlet for children and young adults who identify with the excitement of the activity. This is an activity that must be developed with careful attention to safety factors.

The single most important thing is promoting safety- whether this is in game situations or stunting. GLVA cheer’s goal is to increase the cheerleader’s awareness in regard to their external environment: educating the team on when, where and how they fit into the game’s activities.

Cheerleaders cannot be expected to learn and practice skills on their own. GLVA will be focusing on the fundamentals of cheerleading such as arm placements, cheerleading motions, synchronization, sharpness, basic cheers/chants, basic age-appropriate stunts, the understanding of offense and defense, jumps and being “game day ready”. With this cheer program, our coaching staff’s direct involvement will play a large role on the personal growth and development of participants.

  • Two seasonal offerings: spring and fall
  • Will run alongside our NFL Flag Football program
  • Games are hosted at the Charles Chrin Community Center
  • Games are held weekly on Sundays
  • Coach training and resources will be provided
  • All volunteers must complete the clearance process
  • No fundraising or volunteering requirements
  • No experience required for participants
  • Practice one time per week once games begin, TBD once teams are formed
  • Commemorate your experience with photos from Bishop Photo
